The iPhone 12 will be unveiled later this year, and a lot of information about its features and specifications has been leaked already. But how will it look like? Well, an iPhone 12 concept video brings forth a design that draws heavy inspiration from the all-time-classic iPhone 4.

It has been widely reported that the iPhone 12 will bring back some of the design elements of the iPhone 4. But how exactly will it look and blend all the requirements of a modern smartphone in an older style? Well, the latest iPhone 12 concept draws a lot of inspiration from the iPhone 4 and its almost industrial-yet-attractive design with flat sides.

The concept, which is created by DBS Designing, shows us how an iPhone could look if it has a completely bezel-less screen, devoid of any notch. Of course, it looks stunning. To replace the Face ID mechanism and the notch, the concept introduces an in-display fingerprint reader. This is something that Android phone makers have been doing over the past couple of years.

Then there are those classic flat metal sides that remind us of the iPhone 4 the most. However, the phone looks too thin for its own good and the final version of the iPhone 12 won’t be this thin. There’s a power button on the right side, while the mute switch and the volume buttons are on the left side of the phone.

At the bottom, there is a Lightning Port, a loudspeaker, and a microphone. At the rear, the phone appears to have gained an extra camera sensor, exactly as it is being rumored. The fourth sensor is expected to be a 3D ToF camera to measure depth for AR apps, AR games, and portrait images as well as portrait videos.

The concept says that the phone will support 5G connectivity as well as wireless charging, both of which are certainly expected from the iPhone 12. The concept leaves out one important aspect, though. The front-facing camera seems to be missing. If it is hidden inside the screen, the video hasn’t made the information clear.

Our Take

The concept could be close to the actual design of the 2020 iPhone, and it is not as wild as the concept that we saw earlier. However, we don’t think Apple will ditch the Face ID system, at least this year, to switch to the under-display Touch ID mechanism. Plus, the phone won’t be as thin as the concept.

Did you like this concept? Do you think it’s time for Apple to get rid of the notch and give us a completely bezel-less screen? Let us know in the comments section below.
