Apple Watch Sleep Tracking Likely to Feature Sleep Quality, Advanced Alarm, Battery Management
Sleep Tracking is an important feature of fitness/smartwatch. The tool not only calculates the duration of your sleep but also determines the quality and in some cases the depth of your sleep. Rumor mills have been speculating about Apple Watch sleep tracking and today, 9to5Mac has revealed details about the same.
Apple recently acquired Sleep Monitor product manufacturer Beddit. As expected Apple is already working on Beddit’s expertise and implementing sleep tracking for Apple Watch. The Cupertino company is expected to pull the wraps from new iPhones next week and is likely to reveal sleep tracking feature during the launch event.
The new feature is apparently codenamed “Burrito” and is called “Time in Bed tracking.” If you own multiple Apple Watch then the feature will allow you to choose a designated bedtime watch. However, users need to wear their Apple Watches while sleeping to use this feature and most of us keep the device for charging at night. Well, Apple has thought of this and is baking in a feature that reminds you to charge Apple Watch before going to bed.
Apple also seems to be working on the alarm system. In a bid to not disturb your partner, the alarm will go off on Apple Watch while the iPhone will act as a fall safe. Users can also choose silent alarm which vibrates the Apple Watch. Furthermore, the bedtime feature will automatically turn off Do Not Disturb mode when you go to sleep. At this point in time, it is not clear whether the new bedtime feature will be exclusive to new Apple Watch or is designed to support the older generation devices as well.
