One of the advantages of buying a new-gen car is that it offers features like Car Play and a full-blown touch screen infotainment. But what if you own an old car or a base trim that doesn’t come with CarPlay? Well, Sony has launched a large 8.95-inch display designed to fit into a single-DIN housing in the dashboard.

The Sony XAV-AX8000 supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. With the CarPlay in place, you can access a majority of iPhone features on the infotainment. That apart the WebLink Cast can be used to directly mirror your phone to the display, much like Google Chromecast and FireTV stick.

Moving on, Sony’s new infotainment system lets you plugin a four-channel amplifier with a maximum output of 55 watts. You can also add a Dynamic Stage Organizer with 10 presets and FLAC audio file support. The Dynamic Stage Organizer works by adjusting the signal and thus mimicking virtual speakers on the dash. Furthermore, the system also lets you use a rear-view camera. The Sony XAV-AX8000 is priced at $599 and will be available starting from December 2019.

Sony has also launched DSX-B700 which offers 4x55W outputs. The system also offers dual Bluetooth connections with Siri Eyes free and supports Pandora via iPhone. Siri Eyes Free is a feature that lets you control audio via SIRI by using voice commands. The feature is aimed at helping drivers concentrate on the road and control the smartphone by using voice commands.

Meanwhile, the DSX-GS80 features 4X100W class-D amplifier, Dynamic Stage Organizer, bass boost and multiple speaker load options. The Sony DSX-GS80 also offers Siri Eyes Free. As far as pricing is concerned the DSX-GS80 is priced at $129.99 while the DSX-B700 retails at $229.99. The DSX-GS80 will start shipping in December while the DSX-B700 will be available from September.
