Alleged iPhone 11 Max Case Renders Hint at Camera Bump, and Redesigned Mute Switch
The case image renders feature an iPhone 11 Max in Gold. As you can see the camera bump is square in shape and houses triple rear camera unit alongside the LED flash. Apparently, Apple is using a new glass design at the back and this is made up of a single piece of glass. It seems like the glass design at the back covers camera bump as well.
Moving on, the mute switch has been redesigned to slide sideways instead of up and down. Moreover, Apple is claimed to have changed the shape of the switch from rectangular to round. Perhaps the redesign will help Apple Engineers make some space for other hardware.
It is difficult to judge the size difference of the devices by looking at the render. However, the renders showcase iPhone 11 Max with a smaller notch as opposed to the iPhone 11 Max. That apart, analysts believe that both the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 11 Max will be identical from the front.
Until now rumor mills have been predicting a move from lightning cable to USB Type-C on the upcoming iPhones. However, the renders from the case maker beg to differ. According to the leaked renders, Apple will stick to lightning connectivity.
We are not sure how customers will react to the camera bump on the new iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max. The bump helps engineers squeeze in bigger and better camera hardware without adding to the overall thickness of the phone. Needless to say, good camera units need bigger sensors and this poses a design challenge. On the brighter side, I have used phones with camera bumps as daily drivers and never felt it to be ergonomically challenging.
