Mattel’s Latest Hot Wheels Smart Track Kit and NFC Enabled ID Cars Are Exclusive to Apple Store
Lately, Mattel has been trying to add a digital touch to its toys. The company has now launched Hot Wheels Smart Track Kit, Race Portal, and Hot Wheels ID vehicles. The new range of toys will exclusively be available on Apple Store and is expected to arrive on Android later this year.
Hot Wheels has come up with a Smart Track Kit. The track is fitted with digital tracking elements that sync to the iPhone or iPad via an app. With this setup, you can keep a track of speed, count laps, build a digital garage and much more. That being said the Hot Wheels ID cars only come with an NFC and you will be required to purchase Hot Wheels Race Portal ($40) or the Smart Track race kit ($180)
The Hot Wheels id includes 51 die-cast cars that come with NFC tags. As far as pricing is concerned, the ID cars will be priced at $6.99, which is a premium over the usual car. Hot Wheels launch vehicle list includes cars like the Corvette C7R, SRT Viper GTS-R, 2016 Mercedes AMG GT, Aston Martin One-77, Shark Hammer 2.0, Howlin Heat, Archnorod, and Motosaurus.
As mentioned earlier, the Hot Wheels Race Portal is used for scanning Hot Wheels id vehicles and eventually measure speed and count laps. Meanwhile, the much expensive Hot Wheels Smart Track will offer a track with features like jumping and crashing. You can also keep a track of total distance traveled by each car. Mattel claims that the booster on the track is the most powerful booster the Hot Wheels brand has ever seen.
Mattel lets you purchase each component separately. Furthermore, the free Hot Wheels ID app lets you scan the vehicles and maintain a virtual garage. The Hot Wheels id vehicles, the Race Portal, and the Smart Track kit can be purchased from the Apple online store and Apple Retail.
